The League of Legends community is particularly demanding with the title quality level and asks Riot Games to a completely free of failure video game. It is a reasonable request by the players, who must put the list very high so that the game continues to work in the best possible way. However, there are times when developers have it almost impossible to do their job. This is something we usually say when a new bug is discovered. However, we had rarely seen an example as evident as the one that has taken place after the launch of patch 12.22.
An insignificant failure caused a catastrophic bug
With the launch of the 2023 preseason, the techno chemical dragon was reinstated in the game. This monster was already known by the community, although it was programmed again from scratch to change all the bonuses it offered or the transformation that caused the invoked crack. The new version is much better valued by the community and less disruptive for the games. However, there are three champions that have caused a big problem to Riot Games. This is Arthur, Dogma and Zion. All of them can relive inexplicably if they have a techno chemistry soul.
The interaction does not seem to make any sense, since the new version of the techno chemistry soul is not able to revive the champions. In addition, we know that the dragon has been scheduled from scratch after having disappeared at the beginning of last season. A situation that resulted in doubts between the community when seeing the same video fragment that you find above these lines. Fortunately, a Riot Games employee wanted to clarify the doubts in all League of Legends players explaining why this Bug took place. A clarification that, along the way, made it clear how the smallest dismissal can lead to this type of scenarios.
Riot Galaxysmah, which is part of the League of Legends analysis team, explained the situation. He confirmed that the dragon is completely new, but also that part of the operating code of the techno chemistry soul was written in the champions themselves and not in the neutral monster. Basically, Riot Games created exceptions for the characters that had liabilities related to death (such as Arthur, Zion and Dogma) so that they worked logically (death, activation of the soul and then passive). Now, what happened, is that they forgot to erase it. As the technochímica soul has returned to the game, the special code of these characters is executed again generating the error.
An employee of Riot Games who may not even work in the company or dedicated to League of Legends added some essential lines of code so that one of the hundreds of elements of the game will work in the expected way. When this element was deleted, nothing was necessary to touch anything, which is the best to avoid more bugs. It has not been until a year after the company is obliged to make changes and realizes the problem. Of all the mistakes that may be in League of Legends, we can not think of one that can be more human.
As talented as developers are, the human factor is part of League of Legends and there is no way to prevent them from taking rough or forgetfulness. Especially when we talk about such a high amount of factors such as the one that Riot Games employees have to handle.
