Register adds a sinister and bloody side to card battles

The foot (plural: feet) is a physiological framework discovered in numerous vertebrates. It is the incurable section of a limb which births weight and enables locomotion. In numerous animals with feet, the foot is a different organ at the incurable part of the leg composed of one or more sectors or bones, typically including claws or nails.

Of course, card games are friendly, but if the stakes were a little higher? Maybe you put a few teeth for a match. Maybe your reason. Maybe even your life? Register associates fast card fights with a troubling horror to create something really special. I played the demo for just an hour before having the hooks in me. I am convinced that once this game will be released next month, everyone will be equally trapped. Zut, even a little time with the Steam demo will suffice to convince you.

Register opposes you, a miserable hungry at the edge of madness, a mysterious living in the cabin with a card game. Losing is to die, so the stakes are quite serious. But if you win, maybe you will eat! Assuming that you still have teeth. In all cases, sacrifices will be needed. In fact, there is a recurring blood theme paid for survival.

Attack cards require a blood sacrifice to be played. A wolf can not be used without offering a couple of squirrels, for example. But these are only cards, right? Some of these cards will tell you however. But they do not disappear for good! A murdered squirrel is always back for the next game. Of course, you can also kill a card for good, to power another card. There is a small altar on which you place them and everything! Super normal stuff. Even you, the player, are not beyond absorption in the deck for future use. Whether blood, bone or blurred photos, sacrifice and consumption are a constant presence.

Oh and good, do you remember when I mentioned the teeth? If you want to tip the scales (literally) in your favor, you can remove a molar with a pair of pliers. It s really painful every time it happens. Since a set of ladders is used to determine the winner, commercial blows can continue for a while. And hey, do not worry about where all other teeth come from. That s fine, probably!

While the graphics do a decent job to transmit the tone, it is the audio that really comes to you in mind. Each piece of dialog is accompanied by a serious and discordant note, both piercing and remote. The music is sparse, sinister and powerful. And do not forget the sounds of sacrifice, dental extraction, suffering. Just like the cabin of the cabin itself, just enough is left to your imagination to leave you completely frightened. In addition to all this, the actual card fight is excellent.

The fights are fast and vicious. Without a constant balance of fodder and crocs, so to speak, you have serious problems. Really, each turn should be marked by a kind of violent act if you want to win. Any flap of decency or restraint will only lead to your defeat. If you fall to the fight, you live like a new card in the game. Beyond that, it seems that history is slowly revealed after each death. Otherwise, you go back to zero, a victim more in this disaster competition.

So far, my only serious reproach is that the demo seemed totally too short. Fortunately, the full game arrives on Steam in less than a month. The rules are easy to understand, the gameplay is fast and each match allows you to stay fully engaged. Not to mention the sinister and disturbing atmosphere. Every corner of this dark cabin is full of mysteries. Locked safes, cryptic scribbles, talking cards and your disturbed host all simmer with threat. I was disturbed but intrigued, a perfect combination to keep me hooked. I will look forward to the official release of regrock on October 19th.
