Power in the graphics cards

MeinmMo author Benedikt Schlotmann had bought a graphics card. But he is now annoying to have not bought a faster graphics card right away.

A few years ago I wanted to upgrade my PC again and had purchased a new graphics card.

At that time I paid for my Radeon RX 570 with 8 GB video memory still fabulous 139 euros. A prize from which many users can only dream in today's time. Currently, graphics cards are sold for thousands of euros on eBay. Meanwhile you have to pay for the Polaris graphics card about 300 euros on eBay for the 8-GB model (via eBay.de).

In retrospect, however, I annoy myself to have not invested money for a faster graphics card.

Especially with regard to the latest video card prices, I wonder that I did not decide for the RX 5700 XT at that time, which was also commercially available at the time of my investment. And there are several reasons I want to call you in this article.

I bought an RX 570 - I would rather invest in a RX 5700 XT

Therefore, I would rather have to access RX 5700 XT: The Radeon RX 5700 XT was considered one of the best maps in the mid-range and WQHD area for the last few years. For example, our colleagues from the Gamestar in their graphics card advice had listed the RX 5700 XT long as the best alternative for Gamers (via gamestar.de). Meanwhile, the new RX 6000 series has replaced the 5700 XT from the purchase advice.

Because especially with very new titles such as Assassins Creed or at Anno 1800 I realize now that my current RX 570 does not always come up with. Although I still get around 100 fps in Apex Legends or in Overwatch, in many other games I am now removed.

Especially at a time when new top titles are repeatedly asking the hardware accordingly, but there are no graphics cards to reasonably reasonable prices, I annoyed that I'm only for a Radeon RX 570 had decided. In particular, because according to Nvidia, the graphics cards should remain expensive in the future.

What cost the RX 5700 XT? The Radeon RX 5700 XT came into retailers for 419 euros and was either just over or under the non-binding price recommendation. It is also interesting that the price of the RX 5700 XT was always stable at around 400 euros and hardly outliers had up or down.

Meanwhile, the prices for a used RX 5700 XT are somewhere between 700 and 800 euros and for new cards are still paying more and thus easily above the RX 6700 XT. But that's because the old series for mining is better suited than the new models.

At least, at least that I probably will not buy RX 5700 XT more, because Meanwhile, AMD has released its 6000 series. And here's interesting alternatives for me.

The current prices stop me (still) from a graphics card purchase

Which graphics card would I buy now? If I should buy a new graphics card in the coming months, then there is currently two useful alternatives for me: either the RX 6600 XT or the RX 6700 XT.

The 6600 XT speaks the most as a full HD gamer most and I would not have a problem for doing on rayTracing performance. In addition, the graphics card is currently actually reasonably available.

With the RX 6700 XT I would be equipped for the next few years and would also have reservations for RayTracing and other gimmicks. Here, however, the price is currently scared, because I am (yet) not ready to pay 800 or 900 euros for a graphics card.

If I had the time or I would have been to Gamescom in the Rhineland, I would end up even for a RTX 3060 to Cologne.

That's my recommendation: If you should have the chance to get a graphics card at a fair price, then not saves the few euros, but rather buys something more than a year later to upgrade. Because at short notice, you save money, sooner or later you can not get a trumber and has to buy new hardware.

In principle, however, the purchase decision always depends on several things. First, it depends on how big my budget for the graphics card purchase is at all and secondly it plays a role, for which I need the graphics card at all:

  • In which resolution do I play?
  • How fast should the refresh rate be and offers my screen?
  • Which games Zoke me?

Currently you should not buy certain graphics cards.
