That a new game of the Saints Row series comes, that was already known thanks to a Tweet of Host Geoff Keighley before starting the Opening Night Live. But how exactly the whole looks, developer has revealed volition only during the opening of Gamescom 2021.

At an event, the team has already explained to us in advance what awaits you with the reboot. Here, therefore, you will learn again in all detail what direction the rather wound open World series, which is often seen as a GTA competitor, is already in just a few months.

Flashing: a complete reboot

In the reboot it goes completely from the beginning with the third person action in an open game world. Means: a new setting, new characters and a new engine. Although there will be allusions to the Saints Row history, there are no remuneration at all corners and ends.

A necessary reboot: Volition has made it clear during the event that after Saints Row 4 and the strongly worn gat out of light expansion simply no increase was possible. We also find the series back a bit of down to the roots, gives quite sense.

A fresh, twisted playground

Steelport was yesterday in the reboot, it takes us in the cactus-rich, dry southwest of U.S.A. to Santo Ileso, where we can let off steam in terms of on-footed action or in numerous vehicles. According to the developer, the latter should also focus on the focus during the shootings and offer the best driving of the series so far. Among other things, thanks to wingsuits, a portion of verticality should come into play.

Everything new in reboot? The typical coated gameplay, as we are used to it since part 3, nothing will change in the reboot, although we do not hell in space or even hell. Crazy outfits, weapons (the purple dildo celebrates no comeback), arcady driving pleasure and a proper serving of humor are still the essence of the action game.

How the whole thing feels, rewrite volition with the films Baby Driver, Hobbs & Shaw and in Puncto fights with John Wick. Anyone who has seen the action trilogy with Keanu Reeves knows, knows, here is spectacular and not exactly squeamish to the point.

NBA Live 18 Intro (PlayStation 4)

Information about the console version: Saints Row appears as a crossgant game, which of course always raises the question of the technical differences. Vallibition at the present time did not want to comment on this.

What we know, however, it will give the opportunity to cross the crosplay between the generations. You play Saints Row on the PS4, your girlfriend on the PS5, no problem.

According to the developer, by the way, with Santo Ileso, the so far awaits the biggest game world in the series, which counts not only the city itself but also a huge surrounding area.

Built your own Saints Empire

Let's come from the game world to the characters, more accurate to your hero or her heroine. It is played The Boss , which you put together via character editor according to your wishes.

How profoundly the whole thing is designed, we can not currently evaluate that yet, according to the volume, however, there should also be many ways for customization - and there will be the one or the other funny outfits.

Speaking of Customization , even if the transition lags a little bit. Of course, you build your own Saints-Gang Empire in the reboot. This happens this time not only by the story, but also in the game world itself.

If your areas conquered in Santo Ileso or defeat the existing clans living there, you should build buildings on the spot, which bring you different advantages. For example, build a shooting range, you can modify your weapons here and buy suitable Perks. You can imagine the whole thing a little as in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, in which your own village is equipped with piece by piece and thus improves your character.

Opinion of the editors

Dennis Michel @ Demig0Rgon

At first glance everything done right, that was my thought after the event with Saints Row developer Vartion. Although I had a lot of fun with the overdrawn Open World series since part 3, the question specifically to Gat Ouf of Hell was where should that go now?. More than the conquest of the universe and a detour to hell, that did not have to be.

In reboot, a little back to the roots to go to reinvent a bit-wide but generally the action and humor do not lose sight of the eyes, sees extremely promising. Also purely visually the reboot has left a solid impression as a crossgant title, although no graphics miracle should be expected here.

My biggest question mark is still behind the construction feature, with which we enlarge our Saints Empire and improve character The Boss step by step. A question mark but not because I do not effectively implement the feature motivating motivating, but simply because I was still too little seen from the part.

What is your first impression of the Saint's Row reboot. Fits the somewhat more earthy approach for you or would you like to have a game on the level of Saints Row 4?
